Bio

Dr. Peter Shriver is a fellowship-trained ophthalmologist at Middlesex Eye Physicians in Middletown and Westbrook, CT.

Dr. Shriver is certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Ophthalmology & Otolaryngology. He completed his fellowship in cornea/external eye disease at the University of California, Irvine College of Medicine and performed his residency at Oklahoma State University, after completing his internship at St. Barnabas Medical Center and earning his medical degree at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine.

While at UC Irvine, Dr. Shriver became one of a select few eye surgeons who has received full fellowship training in surgery of the cornea (eye's outer window) and surgery to correct the eye's ability to focus (refractive surgery). During this fellowship, Dr. Shriver was selected as the Beckman Laser Fellow at the Beckman Laser Institute, a world-renowned facility that is recognized as one of the premier centers for biomedical laser research. He specializes in cornea, cataract, LASIK, and refractive surgeries, primarily dedicating his practice to refractive laser procedures.

Dr. Shriver took part in the original FDA trials for LASIK eye surgery and has performed over 10,000 LASIK procedures. He has treated everyone from fellow eye doctors and surgeons to Hall of Fame athletes, Special Forces personnel, and news anchors. He and his family have undergone LASIK, as well. Dr. Shriver is a member of numerous professional societies and a national lecturer on laser vision correction and the Exclaimer laser. He also teaches and mentors other eye physicians in techniques for advanced surgical procedures.
