The Middlesex Hospital Sleep Disorder Center recently received accreditation from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). Accreditation by the AASM is considered the gold standard in sleep medicine.

The Middlesex Hospital Cancer Center will host its annual Survivors Day on Sunday, May 16, 2010, from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. This gathering celebrates life and honors the courage of all cancer survivors.

The Middlesex Hospital Cancer Center is offering a program, sponsored by the American Cancer Society, that is specially designed for women who are experiencing the side effects from cancer treatment.

The Liberty Bank Foundation has awarded $5,000 to Opportunity Knocks, to support its social and emotional health programming, specifically its home-based parenting education and skill development.

The Middlesex Hospital Cancer Center will host an information session on colon health; and prevention and early detection of colon cancer on Thursday, March 25, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the atrium of the Cancer Center at 536 Saybrook Road in Middletown. The event is free and open to the public.

Middlesex Hospital Physical Therapists Dr. Robin Chapin and Daniel Ludwig will discuss evaluation and treatment of back and neck pain at the Westbrook YMCA on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 12:15 p.m. and again at 7:00 p.m., in the multipurpose room. The one-hour talk is free and open to the public.

Hospital Response to Plant Explosion

Middlesex Hospital received a total of 27 patients from the incident on Sunday at the energy plant in Middletown. One patient with serious injuries was transported via the LIFESTAR medical helicopter to Hartford Hospital and another was transferred to Yale New Haven Hospital.
