Academic Observer Application

Students who are interested in or have been invited to Middlesex Hospital strictly to observe patient care or hospital operations are permitted to do so under the direct supervision of a sponsor from the hospital.  Due to the risks associated with certain hospital environments, observers are not permitted in the Operating Room, Emergency Department, or Critical Care Unit until the summer before their senior year of high school.  All other observers must be at least 15 years of age to apply.  Prospective observers or employees/medical staff members who wish to bring in an observer must notify the Volunteer Services Department within a minimum of seven (7) business days, and observerships are not to last longer than three (3) days of a calendar year.
