Supporting Organizations

The Middlesex Hospital Cancer Center supports these organizations’ events in their effort to raise cancer-related funds.

After the Storm

Breast Cancer Survivor, Christine Willett, was a cancer patient here at Middlesex Hospital Cancer Center.  After trying integrative therapies as part of her treatment plan, she decided to start a non-profit organization that raises money for integrative therapy programs.  One of their biggest events is the Bra Art Runway Show.  This event will be held on August 19, 2010 at the Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station in Haddam,CT.  To register for the event please call 860-685-0698.  For more information about this event and other After the Storm fundraising events please visit http://afterthestorminc.webs.com/

Valley-Shore YMCA Cancer Survivor Program

The Cancer Survivors Program is a safe, fun, relaxed environment for cancer survivors of all fitness levels.  This 12 week program is designed for adult cancer survivors who have stopped engaging in physical activity completely, have a limited ability to be active or have never been active.

The goal of the program is to empower adult cancer patients to improve functional capacity and to improve quality of life through an organized program of fitness.  Ultimately, this program is designed to give you the foundation needed to become independent and confident in your physical fitness and the practice of a healthy lifestyle.  It is also an opportunity for you to join the Y family in the practice of health and well being.

Instructors

Certified fitness instructors offer individual and group instruction in exercise and relaxation techniques.  Our instructors will help you define goals, evaluate progress and modify your exercises as needed.

This is a 12 week program consisting of 90 minute sessions that meet twice a week.  The program is free of charge and includes a free three month Valley-Shore YMCA membership.  The YMCA provides the trained instructors, the facility and the equipment.
