Potential Warning Signs of Developing Breast Cancer

What are potential warning signs of developing breast or ovarian cancer if I don’t have a personal history of either cancer? 

  • A first-degree relative with bilateral breast cancer
  • A first- or second-degree relative with both breast and ovarian cancer at any age
  • History of breast cancer in a male relative
  • Two first-degree relatives with breast cancer, one who was diagnosed at age 50 or younger
  • A combination of both breast and ovarian cancer diagnoses in first- or second-degree relatives
  • A combination of two or more first- or second-degree relatives with ovarian cancer, regardless of age of diagnosis
  • A combination of three or more first- or second-degree relatives with breast cancer, regardless of age of diagnosis

What are the potential warning signs of developing breast or ovarian cancer if I am of Ashkenazi Jewish descent but don’t have a personal history?

  • Any first-degree relative with breast or ovarian cancer
  • Two second-degree relatives on the same side of the family with breast or ovarian cancer
