How do I know if I should seek a Hereditary Risk Assessment?

If you or a family member has a history of breast or ovarian cancer, the following guidelines can help you determine if you should seek an assessment:

  • Breast cancer before age 50
  • Ovarian cancer at any age
  • Bilateral breast cancer at any age
  • Both breast cancer and ovarian cancer at any age
  • Male breast cancer at any age
  • Ashkenazi Jewish ancestry with breast or ovarian cancer at any age
  • A previously identified BRCA mutation
  • Two or more breast cancers, one under age 50
