THD Hemorrhoid Treatment
Hemorrhoid Treatment is not a subject that most people feel comfortable talking about. However, it's estimated that 50% of adults will suffer from hemorrhoids at some point in their lifetime. In some cases, the pain caused by hemorrhoids can range from causing discomfort to being debilitating.
Many people choose to use over-the-counter medications to treat their hemorrhoids. But if the medications don't work for them, they simply suffer because they are afraid of the pain and lengthy recovery time involved with traditional hemorrhoid surgery.
Minimally Invasive Hemorrhoid Surgery
But now there's THD, or Transanal Hemorrhoidal Dearterialization. THD is a doppler guided, minimally invasive hemorrhoid surgery that is being pioneered in Connecticut by Dr. Jonathan Blancaflor at Middlesex Hospital's Center for Advanced Surgery.
THD is less traumatic, less invasive, and has been shown to involve less pain than other hemorrhoid surgery treatments. THD does not involve the surgical removal of the hemorrhoid tissue. Instead, with THD only the blood vessels that supply the hemorrhoids are treated, without excision (no cutting), of the tissue. Plus, THD is an outpatient procedure, so the patient can go home that same day, without a hospital stay. And best of all, the patient can resume normal activity within 24-48 hours of the hemorrhoid surgery.
