Your Middlesex Hospital Hospice & Palliative Care Team
Due to the complexities surrounding the care of most patients in either the Hospice or Palliative Care Program, a number of important providers and Middlesex Hospital departments can be involved at any given time. Our program is designed to meet each patient’s individual needs with the help of a specialized team that includes: doctors, nurses, social workers, home health aides, spiritual advisors and therapists.

Hospice and Palliative Medicine
Alan B. Douglass, M.D.
Dr. Douglass is the Director of the Family Medicine Residency Program. He graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, and completed his residency at Middlesex Hospital. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, and has additional certification from the American Board of Hospice & Palliative Medicine. Dr. Douglass has special interest and training in geriatric medicine.
William H. Zeidler, M.D.
Dr. Zeidler is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, and the ABFM subspecialties of Geriatric Medicine, and Hospice and Palliative Medicine. A graduate of the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Dr. Zeidler completed his residency at Middlesex Hospital, where he is a Senior Attending member of the Medical Staff.
