Special Care Nursery

An on-site Special Care Nursery (Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit), enables us to care for your infant's needs beyond that of a Level I nursery, which deals with healthy babies only. We have pediatric staff available 24 hours, 7 days a week, who are highly trained in the care of sick newborns. Neonatal Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants are available to answer your questions and care for your newborn's need as he or she transitions to life “outside.” All of our Special Care nurses are S.T.A.B.L.E certified. Infants are admitted to the Special Care nursery for many reasons. Some may stay for an initial observation time lasting an hour or two; others may need to stay longer. We have family rooms that will accommodate you and your support person to stay overnight if your baby needs to stay longer in the Hospital.
