The Middlesex Hospital Comprehensive Breast Center, in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness month, invites the community to “Putting a New Face on Breast Cancer,” a free, special event taking place on Thursday, October 7, 2010, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at The Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station in Haddam.
The keynote speaker will be Debbie Wright. Ms. Wright developed and operates Project Closet, a confidence-building, fashion-styling business. She is also a co-author of the recently published book, Inspired Style. She is a regular fashion contributor on WFSB-TV’s “Better Connecticut” and CBS Radio, 96.5 WTIC-FM’s Damon Scott Show.
The evening will also feature surprise “before-and-after” makeovers, which will be revealed at the event. Several breast cancer survivors will share their personal stories. A variety of exhibits will include information on mastectomy products, nutrition, and exercise, hereditary risk assessment, the American Cancer Society, the Connecticut Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program, and Middlesex Hospital Cancer Center programs, services, and integrative therapies. Attendees will each receive a gift bag.
Attendees are welcome to bring a non-perishable food item to be donated to the Amazing Grace Food Pantry in Middletown.
Space is limited and registration is required. To register, call (860) 358-2088. For directions to The Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station, go to www.theriverhouse.com.
