Dr. Wang dedicates most of her time to helping cancer patients. However, she also performs general surgeries. Treating patients from the top down, Dr. Wang performs a variety of oncological surgeries, including (but not limited to): gastric cancer surgery, pancreatic cancer surgery, and hepatobiliary cancer surgery.
Dr. Wang believes in the benefit of community cancer centers, such as the Hospital’s. She previously worked with Beebe’s Tunnell Cancer Center and plans to utilize Middlesex Hospital Cancer Center to keep patients near their homes and support systems.
“The goal is to try to keep the patient in the community,” Dr. Wang says.
Dr. Wang uses the genetic testing and related screenings offered at Middlesex Hospital to better treat those with cancer. This includes a new screening program for individuals with a high risk of pancreatic cancer based on a strong family history and genetic predisposition — a program that may help detect tumors earlier, when treatment is easier. Currently, there is no available test for screening the general population for pancreatic cancer.
