Middlesex Hospital works hard to recognize local veterans, and that effort is very apparent in the Hospice and Palliative Care unit.

Appetite for Life, a month-long fundraiser that benefits the Middlesex Hospital Cancer Center, will kick off May 31 at Tuscany Grill in Middletown. A second party will be held at Luigi’s Restaurant in Old Saybrook on June 7.

The winner of this year’s goPINK Project's T-shirt design contest is Jackson Martin, a Madison resident and a junior at Xavier High School.

On June 1, the Valentine H. Zahn Community Gallery will open a new exhibit, which features the work of members of the Madison Arts Society.

Fifty-five men attended this year’s health and wellness event, which was held at First Church of Christ in Middletown on April 29.

For Pam Whittemore and her colleagues at Middlesex Hospital’s Marlborough Medical Center, making “knitted knockers” is more than a hobby. It is a way that the mammographers can help patients who have had mastectomies, lumpectomies or radiation.

In an effort to provide men who have limited or no health insurance access to health care and community services, the Middlesex Hospital Cancer Center will hold its Men’s Health and Wellness Day on April 29 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at First Church of Christ in Middletown.

Middlesex Hospital’s Occupational Therapy Department will hold an open house on April 18 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in conference room B at the Hospital's Outpatient Center, 534 Saybrook Road in Middletown.   Attend Occupational Therapy Clinic Day and receive a free upper body orthopedic screening. Attendees will also be able to meet staff members, including certified hand therapists, certified lymphedema therapists and pulmonary rehab ...

Based on data collected as part of its 2016 community health needs assessment, Middlesex Hospital has identified four priority areas that it will focus on in the coming years: mental health, substance abuse, the aging population, and asthma, with added attention to social determinants of health and health equity.
