It takes courage, strength and resilience to battle and survive cancer and to face any personal struggles that come with such a diagnosis. As a result, it is important to recognize cancer survivors, and Middlesex Hospital Cancer Center does so annually at its Survivors Day Celebration.

Middlesex Hospital has, once again, earned the “Leader in LGBTQ Healthcare Equality” designation from the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.

Appetite for Life, a month-long fundraiser that benefits Middlesex Hospital Cancer Center, will kick off May 30 with a party from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Tuscany Grill, 120 College Street in Middletown. A second party will be held June 6 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at The Essex, 30 Main Street in Centerbrook.

On June 7, the Valentine H. Zahn Community Gallery will hold a reception for its new exhibit, which will feature selected work from the Barn for Artistic Youth, a private art studio in East Lyme.

Reynolds’ Subaru in Lyme has donated $30,000 to Middlesex Hospital Cancer Center’s new Westbrook location.

Middlesex Hospital’s Pharmacy Department has expanded its partnership with the University of Saint Joseph School of Pharmacy, and the move will benefit patients, physicians and students.
