Visitor Restrictions Due to Flu

Due to the prevalence of the flu in Connecticut, Middlesex Hospital is now limiting visitors to immediate family members or a designated support person. A maximum of two visitors may visit a patient at one time, and all visitors must be at least 18 years of age unless special permission is granted. These restrictions are effective immediately.

Anyone with flu-like symptoms will not be allowed to visit patients at the Hospital. Symptoms can
include fever, vomiting and coughing, diarrhea, body aches and headaches.

Anyone who visits a patient at the Hospital must clean their hands.

Quality and Compliance

In early 2004, Middlesex Hospital became one of the first hospitals in Connecticut to formally share its quality performance information with the public. Based on independent evaluation and comparisons with nationally recognized “standards” for effective treatment, Middlesex performed favorably in many key areas, including patient satisfaction.

Another example of our commitment to providing — and measuring — quality care, is our adoption of a Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) initiative, the process by which we measure, analyze and improve quality on a continuous basis. CQI teams identify areas in which there are opportunities to improve care, such as volume of cases or cases that are considered high-risk.

We are proud to continue this tradition of excellence in providing quality care to our patients, and strong support to the communities we serve.
