Middlesex Hospital has installed a new PET/CT system, the Discovery 610, at the Outpatient Center on Saybrook Road. PET/CT scanning utilizes two major medical technologies (Positron Emission Tomography and Computed Tomography) to produce a combined image of both how the body is functioning and its anatomy. PET/CT can greatly enhance how cancer is diagnosed and treated.
At its Annual Meeting on Tuesday, June 28, 2016, the Connecticut Hospital Association (CHA) recognized Middlesex Hospital with the 2016 John D. Thompson Award for Excellence in the Delivery of Healthcare Through the Use of Data for its project, High Reliability Processes to Improve Care for the Early Identification and Treatment of Sepsis.
A key component to Middlesex Hospital’s mission is to provide the best experience possible to our patients. Above and beyond the high quality care and innovative technology the Hospital offers, it is critical that patients feel well cared for and receive the personal attention they deserve while they are in the hospital. The “Mission Moment” column is meant to provide examples of this level of care.
