Radiologists

Michael Crain, MD
Dr. Crain received his bachelor's degree from Oberlin College and spent a year as a research assistant in the Neuroscience Department of Children’s Hospital Medical Center at Harvard University. He earned his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and did his internship at the Jersey Shore Medical Center.

Dr. Crain completed his residency at the George Washington University Medical Center in Washington, D.C. and his fellowship in cross-sectional imaging at the George Washington University Medical Center.

Dr. Crain is certified from the American Board of Radiology. He is a member of the American College of Radiology, the Radiological Society of North America and the American Roentgen Ray Society. He also serves as president and chief executive officer of RAM Radiology.

Adam J. Elias, MD
Dr. Elias specializes in musculoskeletal and abdominal imaging. He received his medical degree from the University of Massachusetts and completed his residency in diagnostic radiology at Mount Auburn Hospital, part of the Harvard Medical School program. Dr. Elias also completed a fellowship in abdominal imaging at Massachusetts General Hospital doing advanced work in MRI, PET and CT scans. This work included CT colonography, MRI enterography and CT scan-guided biopsies.

Dr. Elias interests also include prostate and gynecological imaging, and he completed a second year-long fellowship in musculoskeletal imaging at Emory University with a special interest in sports medicine.

Dr. Elias is certified by the American Board of Radiology, and he is a member of the American Medical Association, the Radiological Society of North America and the American College of Radiology.

Diana M. Hull, MD, PhD
Dr. Hull is director of the breast imaging services. She received her bachelor’s degree in physics from Mount Holyoke College and her medical degree and doctorate in physiology and biophysics from Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Dr. Hull completed her internship at Hackensack Medical Center and her diagnostic radiology residency and breast imaging training at Duke University Medical Center.

Dr. Hull is certified by the American College of Radiology. She is a May Rudin Scholar and received a fellowship award by the Society of Nuclear Medicine. She is a member of the American College of Radiology and Society of Breast Imagers.

Ravi Jain, MD, PhD
Dr. Jain received his master’s degree in doctorate in chemical engineering from the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, California, graduating with honors. He earned his medical degree from the University of Miami Medical School in Miami, Florida.

Dr. Jain completed his residency in diagnostic radiology from the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver and fellowships in nuclear medicine at the University of Colorado, where he devoted one year to cardiac and general nuclear medicine, including gated blood pool and thallium stress testing. Dr. Jain also completed a fellowship at Yale University School of Medicine, where his fellowship was divided into three modalities: MRI, CT scan and ultrasound and interventional procedures.

Dr. Jain is certified by the American Board of Radiology with special competence in nuclear medicine. He is also certified by the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology.

Michael G. Johnson, Jr., MD
Dr. Johnson specializes in interventional radiology. He received his bachelor’s degree in molecular and cell biology from UConn and earned his medical degree from the UConn School of Medicine. He completed a transitional internship year at the Hospital of Saint Raphael in New Haven and graduated as chief resident in diagnostic radiology from Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Dr. Johnson completed a fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology at the Harvard-affiliated Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.

Dr. Johnson is certified by the American Board of Radiology in the subspecialty of vascular and interventional radiology. He is a member of the Society of Interventional Radiology, American College of Radiology, Radiological Society of North America and the American Medical Association.

Michael S. Kelleher, MD
Dr. Kelleher earned his medical degree from the UConn School of Medicine and completed his residency and his fellowship at the Yale-New Haven Medical Center.

Bruce Kovalenko, MD
Dr. Kovalenko is a vascular and interventional radiologist. He earned his medical degree from New York University and completed his residency in diagnostic radiology at Bridgeport Hospital as part of the Yale University program. He also completed a vascular and interventional fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Kovalenko is certified by the American Board of Radiology in diagnostic radiology and vascular and interventional radiology. He is also a member of Phi Beta Kappa, the Society of Interventional Radiology and the American Medical Association.

Dr. Kovalenko’s specific interests include oncologic intervention, including chemo and radio-embolization, as well as percutaneous ablation of primary and metastatic tumors. He also specializes in the following areas: uterine artery embolization for treatment of uterine fibroid disease, peripheral arterial disease, permanent and temporary dialysis access, treatment of peripheral and pulmonary arteriovenous malformation and venous access procedures.

Julie S. Lee, MD
Dr. Lee has special interests in both breast imaging and interventional radiology. She earned her medical degree at New York University School of Medicine and completed an internal medicine internship at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.

Dr. Lee completed her residency in diagnostic radiology and her breast imaging fellowship at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She also completed an interventional radiology fellowship at the Dotter Interventional Institute, part of Oregon Health & Science University. Dr. Lee is certified by the American Board of Radiology.

Daniel MacArthur, MD
Dr. MacArthur is a vascular and interventional radiologist. He earned his medical degree at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and completed his residency in diagnostic radiology at Tufts Medical Center. He completed a vascular and interventional radiology fellowship at the Harvard-affiliated Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.

Dr. MacArthur is a member of the Society of Interventional Radiology, the Radiological Society of North America and the American College of Radiology. Dr. MacArthur's specific interests include interventional oncology, such as catheter directed chemo and radio-embolization, as well as percutaneous ablation of primary and metastatic tumors. Dr. MacArthur also specializes in uterine artery embolization, venous access, biliary intervention and dialysis access.

Nancy Rini, MD
Dr. Rini is director of MRI services and chair of the Department of Radiology. She completed her residency in diagnostic radiology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and served as chief resident in radiology.

Dr. Rini received her certification from the American Board of Radiology. She completed an MRI fellowship at Northwestern University with emphasis on body MRI and musculoskeletal MR imaging. Dr. Rini is also a certified clinical densitometrist, demonstrating her expertise in bone densitometry, and she oversees the Hospital’s bone density service.

Kameron R. Shahid, MD
Dr. Shahid earned a medical degree from St. George’s University and completed a residencies at Henry Ford Hospital and Yale-New Haven Medical Center. Dr. Shahid completed a fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Dr. Shahid has special training in musculoskeletal imaging and is certified by the American Board of Radiology.

Craig A. Walden, MD
Dr. Walden is the medical director of the Middlesex Hospital Breast Imaging Center and the section chief of computer tomography (CT). Dr. Walden is the previous chairman of the Middlesex Hospital Radiology Department.

Dr. Walden received his bachelor’s degree in chemistry and psychiatry from the University of Minnesota and his medical degree from the University of Minnesota School of Medicine. He completed an internship and two years of residency in internal medicine at Strong Hospital in Rochester, New York.

Dr. Walden completed his residency training in diagnostic radiology from Northwestern University Hospital in Illinois, where he served as chief resident.

Dr. Walden is certified by both the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Radiology. He is an active member of the American College of Radiology, the Radiological Society of North America and the American Roentgen Ray Society.

Robert Wolek, MD
Dr. Wolek received his bachelor’s degree in biology from Brown University and earned his medical degree after completing an eight-year program in liberal medical education from Brown University Medical School.

Dr. Wolek completed his residency in diagnostic radiology at Bridgeport Hospital. He completed a fellowship program in nuclear medicine at Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Wolek is certified with the American Board of Radiology and the American Board of Nuclear Medicine.

Zaixiang Sherry Zhang, MD
Dr. Zang, a neuroradiologist, earned her medical degree from Qingdao University Medical College in China.

Dr. Zhang completed her surgical internship at UConn and her residency in diagnostic radiology at Wayne State University and Detroit Medical Center in Michigan. She completed her fellowship training in neuroradiology at Emory University in Atlanta.

Dr. Zhang has published many articles in neuroradiology and spent several years as a research fellow at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Zhang is certified by the American Board of Radiology in the subspecialty of neuroradiology. She practices general radiology with a focus on neuroradiology studies.
