MIDDLETOWN

Middlesex Hospital has resumed providing emergency care to walk-in patients. 

It is still not receiving patients via ambulance, and the Hospital’s normal Emergency Department
location in Middletown is still closed until further notice.

Patients who visit the Hospital’s temporary Emergency Department space should drive to the main
entrance of the Hospital. At that point, a security officer will be there to greet them. The officer will
then direct them to where they need to go.

If someone is sick or injured and needs immediate attention, they should call 9-1-1. An ambulance will bring them to the next nearest emergency department. Middlesex’s other Emergency Department locations in Westbrook and Marlborough are open.

Patients are now allowed to receive visitors. Flu restrictions remain in place.

All other Middlesex Health System locations are operating as normal.

Your Middlesex Hospital Nephrology Team

The Middlesex Hospital Nephrology team provides a full range of diagnostic and treatment services. Included are inpatient and outpatient consultation in nephrology, hypertension, chronic renal failure, acute renal failure, kidney stone disease, and acid-base disorders, and therapies such as hemodialysis, chronic ambulatory peritoneal dialysis, and automated peritoneal dialysis.

Dr. Iglesias earned her medical degree at the University of Santiago de Campostela School of Medicine in Santiago de Campostela, Spain. She completed her residency at Episcopal Hospital and a fellowship at Long Island College Hospital. She is certified in nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

David J. Miner, M.D.

David J. Miner, M.D.
Dr. Miner is the section chief of nephrology. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in nephrology. A graduate of St. Louis University School of Medicine, Dr. Miner completed his residency training at St. Vincent's Hospital and Medical Center in New York and a fellowship at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Jeffrey G. Mulhern, M.D.
Dr. Mulhern earned his medical degree from New Jersey Medical School and completed his residency at Boston University Medical Center and his fellowship at Tufts Medical Center.

He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in nephrology and affiliated with Fresenius Kidney Care Central Connecticut.

Michael H. O'Shea, M.D.
Dr. O’Shea, who specializes in nephrology, earned his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine. He completed his residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and fellowships at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and Washington University School of Medicine.

Dr. O’Shea is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in nephrology and is affiliated with Fresenius Kidney Care Central Connecticut.

Thejas N. Swamy, M.D.

Thejas N. Swamy, M.D.
Dr. Swamy earned her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine. She completed her residency at Berkshire Medical Center and her fellowship at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
