Occupational & Environmental Medicine Services
Recognized by the State of Connecticut Department of Labor as a full-service Occupational & Environmental Medicine Program, we offer an array of services. Our Occupational Medicine offices are open Monday - Friday 8 am to 4:30 pm for treatment of work-related injuries or illnesses and for follow-up care. After-hours care is coordinated with our community-based Emergency Department locations.

Many of our clients have chosen to offer on-site physical examinations for their employees, as well as immunizations, including tuberculosis testing and hepatitis vaccines.

The Middlesex Hospital Occupational Medicine Program provides seminars for employers or designees on a variety of subjects, workers’ compensation, drug testing, communicable diseases and indoor air quality.
- Workers' Compensation
We treat both the initial injury and provide ongoing injury management.
- Immunization Programs
We can provide flu shots, tetanus and hepatitis vaccinations.
- Drug Screening Services
We offer both breath alcohol testing and urine drug screening with SAMSHA-approved testing facilities and 5- or 10-panel testing.
- Pre-placement Physical Exam
Performed at the time an offer of employment is made, this ensures the applicant’s ability to perform essential job functions in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
- Fitness for Duty Exam
Determines a worker's current health status as it relates to his or her ability to safely perform a job at their existing level or with accommodations.
- Surveillance Exam
Testing can be performed for workers who have environmental exposures such as lead, asbestos or other agents.
- Hearing Loss Prevention Programs
We conduct audiological hearing tests in compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Department of Transportation Exam
Required at least every two years to ensure the ability of all commercial drivers to perform their duties in accordance with federal regulations of the U.S. Department of Transportation.
- Federal Aviation Administration Exam
Conducted by a senior FAA examiner, initial and periodic exams are available to both commercial and recreational pilots.
