The latest technology in mammograms, or breast imaging, is digital mammography.
Digital mammography is different from traditional mammography in how the image of the breast is viewed. When reading the results of a digital mammogram, the radiologist is better able to manipulate the image to see through the breast more clearly. For example, if there are calcifications, they can be enhanced or magnified. This aids in determining whether further examinations of suspicious areas are necessary.
For patients, a digital mammogram feels identical to conventional one, except that women may notice shorter exam times and fewer return visits to obtain additional imaging.
Our mammography service and its certified technologists are accredited by the American College of Radiology.
