MRI Diagnostic Imaging
At Middlesex Hospital, we’re constantly investing in the latest diagnostic imaging technology to help ensure the highest quality service and the best possible outcomes for our patients. That’s why we’ve increased the number and quality of our MRI machines—giving our specially trained team of radiologists and physicians access to the clearest images available. And adding more MRI machines also means that it’s easier for us to accommodate your schedule. In fact, most patients will now be able to schedule an MRI within 24 to 48 hours.
Siemens MAGNETOM Verio 3T
When you need an MRI, your future can depend on the clarity and detail of an image. The 3-Tesla MRI is twice as powerful as a standard MRI, making it faster and easier than ever for your doctor to analyze and accurately diagnose your condition. Ours is conveniently located at the Middlesex Outpatient Center (534 Saybrook Rd., Middletown) right down the street from our main hospital.
Wide Open Bore MRI
Many larger patients or those who experience feelings of claustrophobia with traditional MRI units believe that an “open” MRI is their only alternative. However, “open” MRI systems are really only open on the sides—so the magnet is still very close to the body—and they are usually “low-field” MRIs, which means the scans take longer and image quality may not be as clear.
Our wide open bore, high-field MRIs give patients the best of both worlds. They have a much larger opening and shorter length (for many tests, your feet and head remain outside the machine), so patients are much more comfortable and experience less anxiety and claustrophobia. And, because they are “high-field” units, they still provide doctors with the crisp, clear images they need to make an accurate diagnosis.
Our wide open bore MRI units are located at both our main hospital (28 Crescent St., Middletown) and the Middlesex Outpatient Center (534 Saybrook Rd., Middletown).
Our radiologists, physicians and patients also have access to a number of standard MRI units located at Middlesex Hospital Shoreline Medical Center Laboratory (260 Westbrook Rd., Essex) and Middlesex Hospital Marlborough Medical Center (12 Jones Hollow Rd., Marlborough).
