Hysteroscopy uses a hysteroscope, a thin, lighted tube inserted into your vagina to examine your cervix and the inside of your uterus. An operative hysteroscopy can be used to remove polyps, fibroids, and adhesions.

A salpingectomy is a surgical procedure where one or both of a woman's fallopian tubes are removed. It's performed to treat certain conditions of the fallopian tubes and ectopic pregnancies and as a preventative measure for women at higher risk of developing ovarian cancer. At Middlesex Health, our surgeons are trained to perform salpingectomy through a minimally invasive (laparoscopic) approach, which reduces bleeding and allows for a faster recovery time.

An ovarian cystectomy is a procedure to remove ovarian cysts. An ovarian cyst is a sac or pouch on your ovary that contains fluid. These cysts are fairly common and often go away on their own without treatment. Your healthcare provider may recommend an ovarian cystectomy if you have an ovarian cyst that doesn’t go away, gets larger or causes pain.
