Patient Resource Library
Our Patient Resource Library (PRL) is the largest cancer library for consumers in Connecticut. We are dedicated to helping people learn more about cancer, treatment and survivorship. By providing accurate, up-to-date health and medical information, the Library helps empower you to communicate more effectively with your healthcare providers and actively participate in the healthcare process.
Library services are completely free of charge and available to the community. All items borrowed from our Library can be returned to any public library.
Here are just some of the services offered by our Patient Resource Library:
- Trusted, reliable online cancer resources
- Our searchable online catalog
- Books, DVDs and CDs that can be borrowed for up to one month
- Brochures and cookbooks
- Stories of how others are meeting the challenge of a cancer diagnosis
- The Light One Little Candle program, which offers free children’s books to cancer survivors.
Janis Leird, our medical librarian, can help you find useful books or CDs to borrow. She can also help you find reliable, online sources of cancer-related information using your computer or mobile device.
Janis Leird, MLS, is our medical librarian. She is happy to help you find cancer care information that is completely confidential. Please call or email the librarian so we can provide you with information where and when you need it.
