Visitor Restrictions Due to Flu

Due to the prevalence of the flu in Connecticut, Middlesex Hospital is now limiting visitors to immediate family members or a designated support person. A maximum of two visitors may visit a patient at one time, and all visitors must be at least 18 years of age unless special permission is granted. These restrictions are effective immediately.

Anyone with flu-like symptoms will not be allowed to visit patients at the Hospital. Symptoms can
include fever, vomiting and coughing, diarrhea, body aches and headaches.

Anyone who visits a patient at the Hospital must clean their hands.

Physicians and other healthcare providers who participate in your care may be private practitioners and independent contractors and thus may not be employees or agents of Middlesex Hospital and/or Middlesex Health System.  Examples of such health care providers may include, but are not limited to, surgeons, consultants, radiologists, anesthesia providers, pathologists, obstetricians, physician assistants (PAs) and advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs).

 While all healthcare providers must meet certain education, training and experience requirements to practice at Middlesex Hospital, the Hospital is not responsible for the specific care provided to you by any non-hospital employees.  As such, it is recommended that you always speak with your healthcare provider regarding the nature of his/her affiliation with Middlesex Hospital and Middlesex Health System.
